Comprehensive Messaging Security Solutions

Public Sector

State and local government agencies are faced with multiple challenges when it comes to messaging security. While the Internet allows government agencies to communicate with civilians or one another in a quick and efficient manner, it also leaves room for vulnerabilities such as spam, viruses and worms, intrusions, data leakage, non-compliance and other threats. Government agencies need the ability to effectively control both inbound and outbound messaging, encryption level, bandwidth, recipients and other parameter combinations. Additionally, detailed reports of e-mail flow, attacks and other pertinent information are crucial in helping agencies comply with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and other regulations.

In May 2006, CipherTrust was awarded the Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 2 (EAL2) certification from the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) program. Common Criteria certification is an important, and often mandatory, requirement for conducting business with international government agencies, and gives our customers and prospects assurance that CipherTrust meets strict security requirements and certification standards.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Security Agency (NSA) established the NIAP to evaluate IT product conformance to international standards. The program, officially known as the NIAP Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme for IT Security (CCEVS) is a partnership between the public and private sectors. Designed to help organizations select commercial off-the-shelf information technology (IT) products that meet their security requirements, and to help manufacturers of those products gain acceptance in the global marketplace, the Common Criteria is recognized around the world as the official third-party evaluation criteria for IT security procedures.
