E-mail Privacy - Key Features
Flexible Secure Delivery Policy
IronMail enforces e-mail rules across the entire company to ensure that messages are sent securely and applies comprehensive content filtering and monitoring capabilities to enforce secure delivery policies, such as when to block or allow S/MIME or OpenPGP® encrypted messages. Simple rules based on keywords, header information and subject lines helps IronMail users determine whether encrypted e-mail sent to or received from unspecified users should be stopped or allowed through the gateway.
Mail-VPN
IronMail® can provide policy-driven, transparent gateway to gateway protection and secure connections to e-mail clients, including Outlook, Netscape Messenger, and Outlook Express. IronMail's Mail-VPN function is standards-based and supports message encryption by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)/Transport Layer Security (TLS), the same technology that enables secure e-commerce. With Mail-VPN, an encrypted channel of communication is created using domain security certificates for gateway-to-gateway encryption.
Mail-VPN not only creates secure tunnels for message traffic but authenticates remote servers for added security. Drawing upon the support of SSL/TLS already built into Outlook, Outlook Express and most other mail clients, Mail-VPN allows remote clients to securely send and receive e-mail. IronMail can create secure connections with any Message Transfer Agents (MTAs) that support SSL/TLS, including Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes and Novell GroupWise.
Server-Side S/MIME
Compliant with industry-standard S/MIME protocols, IronMail reviews all incoming and outgoing messages and provides a centralized system for managing keys. If IronMail determines that an incoming e-mail is an S/MIME message, the appliance looks for an S/MIME key to decrypt the message or treats the e-mail as if it was intended for a user with client-side S/MIME. IronMail also checks every outbound e-mail for a domain or user in the S/MIME list.
Server-Side OpenPGP®
IronMail's server-side OpenPGP® support allows IronMail users to communicate with third parties securely and ensures the security and authentication of business communications.
Secure Delivery
IronMail reduces the risk of conducting business over a network by providing secure delivery to mail servers that don't support SSL/TLS, S/MIME or OpenPGP®. Designed as a delivery mechanism for end-users without another means of secure communication, secure web delivery establishes a secure link to a web-based mailbox. IronMail's e-mail security delivery functions provide a versatile, easy to use solution for messages that need to be delivered securely regardless of the recipient's environment.
PostX® Server
The PostX Envelope Server "pushes" secure messages via a registered envelope directly to any desktop without the recipient having to download or install software or manage keys. Authentication and encryption methods can be configured for both online and offline access to provide varying levels of security. CipherTrust’s IPA, when using the PostX Envelope Server is ideal for large enterprises requiring delivery of millions of monthly secure statements, pay stubs, trade confirmations, and other sensitive documents to their customers through a secure e-mail system, as is common for institutions such as banks, financial organization, telecommunications companies, insurance organizations and healthcare industries.
Voltage® Server
Through its relationship with VoltageTM, CipherTrust also offers the ability for users to have ongoing secure e-mail relationships using the Identity-Based Encryption Server. This state-of-the-art system allows users to encrypt communications and apply policy-based decisions using a single button. The system can be operated as a downloadable plug-in, or the user can utilize the Zero Download Reader to access system capabilities.
