Title:
Preventing Data Leaks & Non-Compliance
Speaker: Greg Bell, Principal and Americas
Service Leader for Security, Privacy and Continuity, KPMG LLP
As
electronic communications remains a primary means to transmit
and store corporate information, messaging security is directly
related to industry and government regulations that require
close control over sensitive data. Often, companies risk stiff
penalties for non-compliance or face public scrutiny when
this information is breached. In this session, Greg Bell will
separate fact from fiction by providing a vital list of what
is required—and what is overkill—for regulatory
compliance, and best practices organizations can implement
to ensure this sensitive information is not compromised. |

Title: Protecting Corporate Data
– Enterprise Case Studies
Moderator: John Pescatore, Distinguished
VP Security and Privacy Analyst,
Gartner
Panelists: Aaron Kuehn, Director of Compliance,
Secure Computing; Ken Rutsky, EVP, Worldwide Marketing, Workshare;
Pete Statia, Information Security Engineer, Piedmont Hospital
An
unfortunate reality in today's business environment is that
one of the biggest threats to compliance and data integrity
efforts comes from within the organization. Going beyond simple
preservation of sensitive information, organizations are faced
with the risk of fines and executive liability, forcing them
to address the threat caused by information leaks. Although
e-mail is still the overwhelming top choice for business communication,
enterprises also must look for policy-driven solutions that
monitor, encrypt, filter and block outbound content across
other channels such as instant messaging, Webmail, peer-to-peer
and other types of messaging traffic. Thisroundtable discussion
will explore real-life implementations and present recommendations
for protecting sensitive corporate information and keeping
customer and employee information safe from privacy violations.

Strategic Government and Private Cooperation for Securing
Communications in Critical Infrastructure Protection
Moderator: Phyllis Schneck, VP Research Integration,
Secure Computing
Featured Keynote Panelists: Amit Yoran, President,
Yoran Associates; Howard Schmidt, President and CEO, R &
H Security Consulting LLC; Daniel Larkin, Unit Chief, Internet
Crime Complaint Center, FBI
All
critical infrastructures have systems that are based on or
enabled by electronic communications. Messaging security technology
is central to overall infrastructure and communications security,
especially as the world begins to see convergence of delivery
infrastructure such as data service and energy. Statistics
show that 85% of critical infrastructure is owned and operated
by the private sector. In current practice, critical infrastructure
subject matter expertise resides mostly within the private
sector. This expert panel explores the messaging security
aspects of protecting global critical infrastructure and the
political issues in government and private sector with the
phenomenon known as “information sharing.”

Title: Real-Life Implementation Best Practices
Moderator: Mike VanBruinisse, Vice President
of Sales, Secure Computing
Panelists: Tim Reinart, Progressive Insurance;,
Charlie Gautreaux, Charlotte Pipe & Foundry; Charlie Cano, Security Solutions Architect, F5; Nathaniel
Borenstein, Chief Spam Strategist, IBM
E-mail
continues to be a significant and highly visible security
issue for organizations. Threats such as spam, viruses, spyware
and phishing continue to grow in volume and sophistication.
At the same time, new communications channels such as instant
messaging, Webmail and VOIP are starting to suffer from the
same security problems. As these protocols experience rapid
employee adoption, organizations are trying to determine how
to make the messaging infrastructure secure and meet regulatory
and acceptable usage policy. This discussion with messaging
professionals and executives from several Secure Computing
customers will feature real-life implementation stories, and
best practices for protecting today's messaging infrastructures. |

Title: Emerging Threats & Applications
Speakers: Dr. Paul Judge, Chief Technology Officer, Secure Computing; Dmitri Alperovitch, Research Scientist, Secure Computing
New protocols and applications provide novel ways to connect people over the Internet and bring business processes online. With these changes come new vulnerabilities and attack vectors. This session will explore some of the paradigm shifts and application evolutions, examine how attackers are already focusing on these systems, and discuss threat trends. Two major themes that will be highlighted are 1) the deployment of Voice over IP (VoIP) systems and 2) the growing attack platform of zombie networks.
In exploring emerging applications, the session will discuss the evolution of threats from e-mail to VoIP and what steps enterprises can take to defend their networks. It also will explore emerging VoIP technologies and the threats that may accompany them in order to help enterprises prepare for the challenges that may lie ahead. The session will then review the fundamental changes attackers are making in their platform and approach. Specifically, it will provide a view into zombie networks, an analysis of attacker methods and techniques, an overview of phishing and how phishing attacks propagate, and what organizations can do to protect themselves.
